health and safety

overalls: when working in a engenerring workshop coton overalls are best to use as they are thick and wont catch on fire where as paper overalls will catch on fire really easy, paper overalls to are best when working with fiberglass as they stop microscopic splinters and allow air though.

theres overalls are not acceptable

theres overalls are acceptable.

safety boots:
when working in a workshop you need to wear steel cap boots to protect you feet, where as sneckers are not acceptable because if you drop anything heavy on your feet it will hurt,

acceptable

safety gloves:
if you are working with a gas touch you need to wear safety gloves to protect your hands from getting burnt.
rubber gloves are not acceptable as they will rip, catch fire easy when working with a gas touch,

not acceptable

acceptable

safety goggles:
when you are working with grinders, drills, wire wheels etc, you need to where safety classes to protect your eyes from metal shavings and splinters, to best classes or goggles to use are ones that seal around your eyes as there is no way metal shavings an get in, however safety classes are okay but do not seal around your eyes,

theres glasses are okay to use.

theres goggles are alot better as they seal around your eyes

earmuffs:
when working with loud tools you need to wear earmuffs to protect your ears from loud noise's. you can wear earplugs aswell personaly i think earplugs arnt as good as earmuffs. you can also wear earplugs under your earmuffs for more protection.

fire extinguishes:
when working in a workshop you need to know where all the fire extinguishes are and all the fire exits. diffrent fire extinguishes have diffrent uses, water fire extinguishes are used for paper, wood and fabric,
foam fire extinguishes are used for paper, wood, fabric, flamable liquids and car fires,
CO2 fire extinguishes are used for flamable liquids, flamable gases and electracal fires,
dry poweder fire extinguishes and vaporising liquid fire extinguishes an be used on any fires,

welding health and safety:

when working in a welding bay/shop you cannot wear paper overalls you need to wear coton overalls because paper overalls will catch fire really easy. you need to wear welding goggles to protect your eyes from the bright flame where normal safety goggles do not protect your eyes from the bright light, you also need to wear safety gloves to protect your hands from the very hot flame that the gas touch puts out. rubber gloves are not aceptable as they will catch fire and burn your hands. you'll also need safety boots such as steel cap boots because if you drop you work your the gas touch it will portect your feet from burning.

when welding you need to keep the touch away from you so you dont burn yourself, you should bend the end of your welding rod so when you put it down you know what end to pick it up from. always wear welding goggles when welding. have a pair of long nose pliers or simaler. don't touch your work stright after you have just welding it as it will be very hot. you if have to you should cooling it off with water or a wet rag etc. when welding makes sure you have air flow especialoy if you are in a cofined space because gas is hevay then air and will slowly buling up and then yo will die. never welding next to flameable liquids as the sparks could fly into the liquid and catch fire and can end in injury or death.

lathe safety:

when working with a lathe you need to wear eye protection as a lathe can throw off hot sharp metal chips at a high speed with is consitably dangours. you should wear short sleeve shirts rather than long sleeve shirts as then can get cought in the lathe and drag you towards the lathe with can be dangours. wear leather steel cap boots to protect your feet from hot sharp metal chips and to protect your feet is you drop tools or the chuck. remove all jewelry that could get cought in the lathe even including rings etc, as thry could catch on the lathe when it is spining. if you have long hair it pays to tie it back to keep it away from the spining componets.

drill press:

when using a drill press always wear safety glass ones with side sheilds are best to stop shrap metal chip getting into your eyes, you should also wear earplugs or earmuffs as a drill pres is loud and can damage your ears. remove all jewerly to provnit it geting cought in the spining chuck. tie hair back so its no where near the chuck as it will hurt if your hair gets cought in the chuck. wear gloves, overalls and safety boots when working with a drill press to protect yourself from injury.
